Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from Report of the Survey and Exploration of Northern Ontario, 1900
The rocks to the north of the base line are of the Laurentian formation and to the south either of the Laurentian or the Huronian order. Numerous quartz veins were dis covered near the contact of the two systems, but the appearance of the quartz was nu promising and analysis proved it to be of little value as regards gold or silver. The only deposits of a commercial value are the large peat beds.
