Excerpt from Report of the Select Committee, on the Maryland Penitentiary
Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the Treasurer of the State be and he is hereby authorised and directed to pay to the directors of the Maryland Penitentiary, the sum of Fifteen Thousand Dollars to be paid in four quarterly payments from the first day of April next, the said sum to be taken out of any unappropriated money in the treasury, and to be applied by the directors towards the payment of the expenses and carrying on the business operations of said institution.
