Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from Report of the Second Annual Dinner in Aid of the Hebrew Charitable Fund of Philadelphia: Given at Sansom Street Hall, on Thursday, February 2, 1854
It is always a pleasing duty to me to welcome my friends, whether to the festive board, or to my own domestic hearth.
But it is doubly so this evening when I look around and recognize so many among this vast assemblage who were present at our first festival, and who have again so kindly responded to our second invitation by honoring us with their presence, to aid us in this, our work of love and benevolence.
