Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from Report of the President of the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal Company: Giving a Statement of the Amount Expended on the Canal From Its Eastern Terminus to Dam No; 5, and Thence to Cumberland
The work on the line of the canal was entirely suspended in the early part of the year 1841, at which time the expenses of the com pany began to diminish, as will appear from the aforegoing sum mary. I do not think that any further curtailments could be made consistently with the interests of the company, either in the num ber or the salaries of 01110818.
