Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from Report of the Librarian of Congress: For the Fiscal Year Ended June 30, 1899
It is certainly proper that a biographical sketch of Mr. Young's career as a whole should appear in this report when printed, and one is appended which, though necessarily brief in compass, embodies the essential facts. Mr. Young left no material toward a report for the past year. The report which I submit, therefore, goes little beyond the statistics of work in each department of the Library, as reported by its chief.
