In the year 1833, several young gentlemen, cognizant of the insidious nature of yellow fever, and the necessity of the closest attention and care being given to those sick therewith; agreed among themselves that they would mutually care for each other and their friends and acquaintances, in case of an epidemic, and any of them should be taken sick.
