Eight varieties Of stock beets, 1 variety of sugar beet, 2 varieties Of stock carrots, and 1 variety of rutabaga were grown in adjacent fertilized plats to determine those best suited to the region. All the crops were harvested September 24. Of the stock beets Mammoth Long yielded at the acre rate Of tons, Sludstrup, tons; Gatepost, tons; Golden Tankard, tons; Giant Half Sugar, tons; Heavy Cropper, tons; Yellow Giant, 12 tons; and Giant Red Ecken dorf, 12 tons. The sugar beets yielded at the acre rate of tons. Of the stock carrots Improved Long Orange yielded at the acre rate Of tons, and White Belgian, tons. Petrowski turnips yielded at the acre rate Of 22 tons, and American Purple Top, tons.
