Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from Reminiscences of the Last Sixty-Five Years, Vol. 1 of 2: Commencing With the Battle of Lexington; Also, Sketches of His Own Life and Times
The British, in possession of Boston, had learnt that a quantity of public stores were deposited at Concord, nineteen miles distant, and determined to send out a force sufficient to destroy them. Another, and a much more important object of the expedition was, to capture, if possible, Jokn Hancock and Samuel Adams, who were known to be in that neighborhood, and upon whose heads a price had been set.
