There are in the present generation great possibilities of advancing the cause of religious reform in England. But it can never succeed unless it proceeds from the desire to re - construct, to build up. The negative spirit in reform is its canker, its poison. Reform has been permitted to be associated with negative tendencies in the Jewish mind, and not sufficiently with the affirma tive and the positive.
