Publisher's Synopsis
I blinked in surprise and wonder. Where am I? As we pushed off from the edge of the river, I couldn't help but have a small memory tug at the back of my brain. Like I knew this place.
"Where are we?" I whispered to the figure as the turbulent waters beneath us became utterly still in an instant at our movement.
The navy waters below suddenly shone with swafts of blue and indigo, and the sparkling star beams of the most incredible night sky. A brilliant glittering haze of radiance, and we in the ship of bones seemed to glide across. I finally looked up to see that it was a reflection of what lay above, impossible, and like a living painting above the darkness-encapsulated, cave-like space. Stars blinked at me from the paint strokes of colour against the midnight backdrop, and I felt at peace for the first time in my life.
"Weeeee aaarree beelooww." The boatman sighed to me as we floated across the stars.
