Publisher's Synopsis
This research paper uses a study of hospital respite care as a case example, to present a model for understanding the nature of carer-dependant relationships. It also considers the implications of adopting such an approach for the provision of services to these groups. The authors' pluralistic approach, which examines respite care from the point of view of dependants, carers and staff, identifies a number of key features influencing the quality and acceptability of respite care.
