Many of the cases in this part of the Register of the Kirk Session resemble those which occur in the previous part, and the delinquents are frequently dealt with in a very similar manner; but this is far from being a mere repetition of the former with different names and dates. Transgressions of other kinds also appear, and the old prevailing vices are more severely punished. There are likewise many interesting refer ences to noteworthy matters, old customs, and prominent persons. Some outstanding men become members of Session; and the newly-erected Presbytery, having its seat in St. Andrews, co-operates with the Session in repressing sin and reforming the manners of the people.
