Publisher's Synopsis

Many office buildings are being refurbished and there is evidence to suggest that in the future there will be an increasing trend towards this kind of activity both speculatively and on a bespoke basis. At the present time new build design advice for accommodating the needs of the disabled is available in several books. There is however little available concerning refurbishment of offices. It is believed this book meets that need. - - The book is in two parts, part one design advice and part two an assessment technique. - - The purpose of part one is to provide design guidance for occupiers, owners and developers of offices to meet the needs of physically disabled employees for which existing property is suitable. The book is aimed at use by in-house staff and non-specialist external advisers. - The purpose of part two is to provide a means of assessing if an existing or alternative office building is suitable to meet the needs of the physically disabled. The survey sheet is developed for use by disabled people themselves, their employers and 'non-specialist' advisers.
