Publisher's Synopsis
Hussitism or Utraquism in Bohemia and the Reformation movement from 1517 in Saxony are two different Reformations, but with an abundance of factual and personal connections. For the first time, these are the focus of this volume. 'We are all Hussites', Martin Luther confessed in 1520 after reading the writings of the Czech reformer Jan Hus, who had been burned as a heretic a good hundred years earlier. The two reformers, like the awakening and renewal movements that emanate from them, combine many similarities, similarities and parallel courses of development. However, they are usually considered separately. The anthology analyzes aspects of the Reformation in Bohemia and Saxony and thus brings the two religious focal points into a common focus. Methodically, the contributors choose an approach based on the history of communication.
