Redemption on a Kentucky Poor Farm is a historical novel that brings together an unlikely and diverse group of people who form deep bonds through their very different misfortunes. The bulk of the story is played out in a small town in western Kentucky, post Civil War. A previously affluent young family find themselves living on a poor farm with ex-slaves, invalids, wanderers and the homeless, after being cast out of their own home and church due to the ignorance and biases of the people they considered family. As their stories unfold in the midst of daily living and difficult times, they have the opportunity to learn how much alike they are, with strengths and weaknesses, in spite of their differences. Growth, forgiveness, and personal redemption are part of a life well lived, and changes the lives of many of the poor farm residents.
