Excerpt from Records of the Sheriff Court of Aberdeenshire, Vol. 3: Records, 1642 1660, With Supplementary Lists of Officials, 1660 1907, and Index to Volumes I., II., III
To the Tables of Contents, Extracts and Notes on Officials previous to 1660, for which space could not be found in Vol. II., there has been added, at the suggestion of the Secretary of the Club, a Supplementary List Of Officials down to the present date. In compiling that List, more especially in those portions dealing with the second half Of the i7th century, the Editor had valuable help from Dr. J. Maitland Thomson, Advocate, late Curator of the Historical Department Of h.m. Register House, which he welcomes this opportunity to thankfully acknowledge. The exceptionally laborious task of preparing the Index to all three Volumes, which forms the greater part of the present volume, has been entrusted to Miss Jean E. Kennedy. The admirable manner in which she did similar work for the volume, issued by the Club, relating to the Scots Colleges, and for Mr. P. J. Anderson's recent Quatercentenary Studies, may be taken as a guarantee for the completeness, accuracy and reliability of her contribution to the present work. TO Messrs.
