As they have been not altogether unacceptable to the readers of the Nautical Magazine, where they first, and only very recently, appeared, the Author is induced to repub lish them in the hope that they may be at least equally so to the general public.
If the anticipation of the future be pleasant, and it is often more pleasant than the realisation, the recollections of past labours are not less agreeable.
