Publisher's Synopsis
This Research Note is a continuation of the previous volume (no. 143). It contains papers by a number of recognized experts in the field of structured continua - the study of materials with structure, eg polymeric fluids, biological fluids, suspensions and dispersions, liquid crystals and composite materials.;The papers in this volume were presented at the conference on Recent Developments in Structured Continua II, held in Sherbrooke on May 23-25, 1990.;The study of structured materials, apart from having a wide variety of industrial applications, is challenging in itself.;This Research Note contains the recent advances in theoretical and experimental modelling of polymeric fluids, blood platelets aggregation in sheared suspensions, domain evolution on polymer liquid crystals, diffusion and mixture problems, rheological problems in jets and dispersion of rodlike and flexible particles.
