Publisher's Synopsis
By the year 2001, it is forecast that around 11% of England is likely to be in urban use. Almost a third of this expected urban growth will be concentrated in the South East. Up until now the factual basis for assertions such as these has been extremely weak.;However, these figures are based on two new sources of data which permit a different approach to the study of changes in land use. The relationship between housebuilding and urban growth is crucial to this forecasting methodology and full details are provided in this report along with maps and tables which well illustrate the variations in estimated urban growth and rates of urbanization by standard region.
