As regards the cod fisheries, our knowledge as to the 'longevit is even more uncertain than in the case of the herring. We have fact, only statements as to average weight of the fish available would seem, that there should still be a prospect of further increa in the average size of the cod; in other words, that the same st past few years has been the object of the skrei and Finmark fisf fished for. As to the younger year classes, but little is known that there were but few of them present on the Finmark coast la the Murman coast the quantity of small fish was at any rate som to the numerical value of this stock, however, this can only be d ture observation, which will be one of the most important tasks upo of investigations for the coming summer.
