The colour photographs and descriptive text depict a cross-section of the fungi that occur in cool temperate rainforests. The selection is not a comprehensive list of species or genera but represents a broad coverage of the most likely, as well as some rare fungi that can be found in Tasmanian and Victorian cool temperate rainforests during the autumn and early winter period. Many of the species illustrated can be found in New Zealand, South America and parts of the northern hemisphere.;This illustrated and clearly written book can be used by either amateur or professional botanists, conservationists, bush walkers, naturalists and educational groups. Other notes such as edibility or toxicity of the fungi are also listed for some of the fungi. The detailed photographs and text in each section are arranged alphabetically, and in combination with the pictorial key, should enable the reader to quickly search for any specimens.
