R.U.R. is a science fiction play by the Czech writer Karel Capek. The play takes place in a factory that makes artificial people, called roboti (robots), from synthetic organic matter. They are living creatures of artificial flesh and blood rather than machinery.
Gertrude Stein (1890-1938) was a Czech writer and playwright born in Prague, Czechoslovakia. He is best known for his science fiction, including his play R.U.R andhis novel War with the Newts.
