Publisher's Synopsis
Quieter Than Silence is the follow-up to my well received poetry book, More Than A Tremor, which was about the battle with Parkinson's Disease. This book, again in verse continues on that theme but also focuses on other neurological issues such as anxiety, panic, insomnia and other mental health problems. It deals with the private and public struggles with the inner workings of the brain. It also touches upon subjects like dealing with loss and grief through to the need for positive thinking as an ally, bringing hope and expectation, . The poems pay tribute to the invaluable role played by family and friends when a loved one is plunged into a darker place. While these may appear heavy themes there is plenty of dry wit on offer. The striking cover of this book was designed by my brother, Scott Summerfield. It is based on the Roman God, Janus who was said to have two faces, being the God of doorways and transitions, a motif running through the course of this work.
