Excerpt from Questions on the Life of Our Saviour: For the Use of Sunday-Schools and Bible Classes in the Protestant Episcopal Church
First. Because it is in two grades, which enables the whole school to study the same lesson and so affords the Opportunity for a general exercise, which, if properly conducted, will greatly increase both its interest and impression.
Second. Because the subject is Jesus Christ Him self, whence He came. Who He is, what He did, ahd what He said; and those who study it must necessarily be brought into contact with Him, and be made to see Him only.
Children should drink at the fountain head, and their food be simple.
Third. Because, while the distinctive features of our own Church and her beat. Tiful division of the year are clearly and lovingly set forth, it is yet done without ex aggeration, and everywhere the great vital truths of the Church Protestant are made to stand out so clearly that he may run that readeth, and the student is pointed to Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith.
And lastly. Because while much time and thought have been expended in its preparation, I believe the work to have been begun, continued, and ended in humble dependence upon the Holy Spirit for light and guidance from no personal consideration, but with a simple desire that some may be brought by its humble means to know and love Jesus Christ, the Saviour of sinners.
