A considerable time has elapsed since concerted efforts were begun in the United States to discover and develop antibiotics for control of plant diseases. General interest in the area of nonmedical applin cation of antibiotics continues despite the fact that few formulations have reached the marketing stage° A number of experimental materials still are under test. During the past 6 years the Northern Division in cooperation with the Crops Research Division has participated in a joint laboratory and greenhouse screening program.
