Excerpt from Profit-Sharing Between Capital and Labour, Six Essays
The Essays contained in the present volume aim at placing before British employers and employed some account of the above movement. The first, second and fifth of them originally appeared in the Nz'neteent/z Century and are reprinted by the kind permission of Mr. Knowles. In respect to the third Essay I am indebted for a like concession to the Council of the Manchester Statistical Society. During the process of revision I have corrected a few inac curacies, struck out repetitions incident to separate publication and brought my facts and figures, as far as possible, to date. The materials for doing this have been mainly obtained by private correspondence with the heads of Continental firms, whose courteous and willing aid I gratefully acknowledge.
