Publisher's Synopsis
The field of fusion nuclear technology is currently making remarkable progress boosted by the concept study of the International Tokamak Experimental Reactor. The results of this study, an outcome of three years of worldwide cooperation in design and accompanying research and development are a highlight of this volume. The issues of high heat flux components, blankets, fuel cycle and remote maintenance are examined in detail. Giving an analysis of nuclear systems and safety studies the papers provide an in-depth overview of reactor and plant design. The 175 papers, including 21 invited papers, present an international forum for the discussion of engineering problems that reflect the interdependence of effects and functions in the nuclear zone of a fusion reactor.
