On motion of Mr. Emery, the Board proceeded to ballot for a President.

The Chair appointed Messrs. Capen, Mowry, and Mur phy a committee to receive, sort, and count the votes. They reported the whole number of votes to be 22' necessary for a choice, 12. Samuel B. Capen had 1 vote; Charles T. Gallagher had 21 votes, and was accordingly declared elected President of the School Committee.
