In the list of type Specimens contained in the Academy collection which follows, the species are arranged according to authors. In order to make the paper more complete, however, mention is made of every author who described new species of birds in the Acad emy's publications, whether their types are in the collection or not, and the present location of the types, so far as known, is indicated.
