physica status solidi (c) – conferences and critical reviews publishes conference proceed–ings, ranging from large international meetings to specialized topical workshops as well as collections of topical reviews on various areas of current solid state physics research.<br> <br> The 11th International Conference on II–VI Compounds (II–VI 2003) was held from from 22–26 September 2003 in Niagara Falls, NY, USA. The program demonstrated the wide range of II–VI research. Highlights were quantum dots and nanocrystals, ZnO–based materials and structures, as well as magnetism and spintronics. Further topics such as growth and charac–terization, doping and defects, electronic structure, and devices were also well represented.<br>
