When we look at primate evolution, we are looking at our own evolution as well. With this central theme in mind, this module, written by Bob Jurmain, explores the fossil history of primates over the last 60 million years. Using what they currently know about primate anatomy (teeth, limbs, etc.) and social behavior, students will learn to "flesh out" the bones and teeth that make up the evolutionary record of primate origins. In this way, the ecological adaptations and evolutionary relationships of these fossil forms to each other (and to contemporary primates) will become more meaningful. Also available online.
