When President Obama took office in 2009, the United States was engaged in two costly wars, faced the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression, and had a diminished standing with many of our allies and partners around the world. So as we look back on the past eight years, President Obama asked each member of his Cabinet to write an Exit Memo on the progress we've made, their vision for the country's future, and the work that remains in order to achieve that vision.
