In connection with its efforts to increase efficiency in the mineral industries, the Bureau of Mines has undertaken to investigate pres ent methods of sampling and analyzing ores in this country and to present the facts to all who may be interested in their study and discussion. The object of this report is to give the facts regarding the present methods of ore sampling in the hope that there may be discussion that will ultimately result in the standardization of sampling methods. Sampling would thus be raised from the position of an art to that of an exact science, where it properly belongs.
