This book is an outcome of a dialogue among theoreticians and practitioners of literacy who came together at a national symposium on Literacy in Hyderabad. It provides a place for conflicting voices on literacy and education in India.
The volume is a collection of fifteen essays carrying a whole range of views on literacy and its practice in contemporary India and forms part of the on-going series Research in Applied Linguistics.
