Publisher's Synopsis

This book has been revised and a number of chapters rewritten completely. The contents have been rearranged into what the author believes is a more logical sequence. The sections on neonatalogy, endocrinology and infection have been enlarged and a new section entitled "Special senses" incorporating chapters on the eye, ear, nose and throat, and the teeth has been added. Two additional chapters "The collapsed child", and "Disorders of connective tissue" have also been included.;"Practical Paediatrcs 2" has an extra 22 contributors bringing the total number to 55. "Practical Paediatrics" should remain as it is - a textbook for the undergraduate student rather than a reference volume. Nonetheless, the author believes that there is sufficent material in this book to both inform and stimulate the student to further enquiry.;It should also be useful to doctors who treat children in general practice and to nurse educaitors in paediatrics. More emphasis has been given to social and preventive paediatrics has been continued and the problem oriented approach maintained.
