In the spring of 1915 a Gardening and Canning Competition open to girl between the ages of ten and eighteen years, living on farms in the County 01 Carleton, was inaugurated. The results of the competition in Carleton and Russell Counties for boys during the three preceding years had been such as to suggest the desirability of providing similar encouragement among the girls.
