Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from Poetical Remains of Hannah Bowden, of Croydon: Formerly Hannah Marsh, Jun., Who Died the 3rd of Seventh Month, 1859, in Her Thirty-Seventh Year
Poems left by my dear Sister, I would remark that as they were not written with a view to publication - (a course from which her timidity would have shrunk-l) they have had no correction with such view, by the writer, unless we except about half a dozen pieces, which the Reader may have met with in the Peace Advocate, &c. It is, therefore, hoped that this consideration will avert severe criticism.
