D few of the au thor's juvenile produétions are placed in the beginning, and to fome of them his age and the date are prefixed; but both the/e are wanting to many of the pieces which were written in more advanced life; they are therefore cla?ed in [tech a manner that fubjet'tr of the fame tendency may be placed together, without much regard to the order of time in which they were written.
