Amy Prince met Jonathan "Jack" Dixon on her first day in her new school... in fourth grade. He was her first friend at her father's new posting.

Paul Murphy was the third leg of their love triangle. He had peeled Amy away from everyone else soon after she joined her new school, keeping her from Jack. But Paul dumped Amy. That was the impetus Jack needed to finally ask out the girl he had loved from afar since the day he met her. Amy liked Jack, too, but thought he hated her. They both decided separately that they needed to see if there could be something between them. That was just after tenth grade.
When Jack and Amy came together, it was too much for Paul. He launched on a trail of revenge that would drag all of their families along. And all of their families had secrets.
