It was intended to insert here, a short. Sketch of the life of the author, but it was found impracticable to do so at present, owing to the fact, that the required material, though ample in amount, is widely scattered, both in this country and in Scotland. A few leading facts, however, may be given, with the hope, that at some future time not far distant, an abler pen may undertake that labour of love.
