Publisher's Synopsis
Pipeline Route Selection for Rural and Cross-country Pipelines (ASCE Manuals and Reports on Engineering Practice No. 46) is a revision of the original manual No. 46, ""Report on Pipeline Location"", published in 1965. Since that time, many high technology items have been developed to help the Routing Engineer, the Project Manager, and other project team members to be more productive in their jobs. The Task committee on Pipeline Route Selection made an exhaustive review of information available on procedures that have been developed regarding the use of these new technologies. In addition to the discussion of high technology developments, this version of the manual places much more emphasis on the environmental, regulatory, and political issues related to pipeline route selection. Although safety and economic issues are addressed throughout the volume, a brief chapter on each topic explores some important considerations. Finally, a glossary of terms has been added since many terms may be unfamiliar or known under other names. This revision is aimed at all engineers involved in pipeline route selection. For some, it may be their first exposure to pipeline route selection considerations; for others, it may be a checklist of steps to go through to ensure a successful process.
