The present book provides a representative cross-section of the many contributions made by experimental groups active in basic research on the epilepsies. Proceedings in a themati- cally logical sequence, mechanisms involved in the gener- ation of epileptic activity are first described. Then, following developmental aspects of epileptogenesis, the mechanismsof action of convulsant drugs are treated.
