Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from Philip and Alexander of Macedon: Two Essays in Biography
The heroes of these essays need no introduction, and I have no excuse for making them my theme if this book supplies none. I treat the two Makers of Macedon, not in proportion to their respective bulk in history, but to the number of books written already about them. Philip, so far as I know, sup plies the central figure to no extant biography; Alexander has inspired a whole literature.
