Acute diarrheal diseases (ADD) are important causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide. ADD includes, among others, cholera, shigellosis, and rotavirus diarrhea. The treatments of these two diseases have been simplified with the advent of oral rehydration therapy and effective antibiotics.
