Publisher's Synopsis
"Real Business" is designed to bring authentic business English within the reach of pre-intermediate and intermediate students of English. It features interviews with six business people from four different countries, working in various fields, from stockbroking to import-export. As these business people are based in Japan and the Far East, these interviews should be of particular interest to students involved in those areas. However, the issues raised in the interviews reflect intercultural concerns common to most international business people.;This cassette accompanies a textbook containing six units, each with two sections based on the same interviewed business person. Focusing on listening and speaking skills, each section begins with pre-listening exercises to introduce important vocabulary, and to get students thinking about the topic of the listening section. The main listening exercises help students to learn how to focus on both main points and important details when listening to natural English. The listening exercises are followed by speaking exercises which give students practice in everyday situations that are essential to international business. Each unit ends with discussion questions giving students the opportunity to talk about the broader issues of the unit, in terms of their own experience and business situation.;The topics of the interview include researching a company, living overseas, job reponsibilities, management styles, products and services, sales markets and plans, company and product description, international business differences, customers and customer expectations, and public relations.;The book includes an answer key and tapescript for students' reference.
