Publisher's Synopsis
This volume is an in-depth study of the interrelationship between peasant struggles, land reforms and social change in Malabar, North Kerala. The author postulates that land reforms have been historical struggles, and that any coherent and comprehensive understanding of social change on the basis of such reforms should be in the context of related peasant struggles. Radhakrishnan then documents the long series of peasant struggles and land reforms in Malabar from the second half of the nineteenth century up to 1970 and examines the ultimate outcome of these struggles.
