Population, School census, School age, 6-21. Arkansas is the twenty -fifth state of the Union in point of population, having a total of inhabitants, of whom 944. 580, or 72 per cent, are white. Of this number, or 1 per cent, are foreign born. The percentage of illiteracy of the entire population is per cent, the state ranking thirty ninth in this respect.
