Publisher's Synopsis
The pathology of the nose and paranasal sinuses comprises an important and rapidly growing field in medicine. Head and neck pathology is a well established entity in the USA, and is now beginning to be recognised in Europe as a field demanding special interest and knowledge from the pathologist. This book is mainly aimed at the general pathologist and at the ENT surgeon with an interest in pathology.;Destructive midfacial lesions consitute one of the most controversial areas in head and neck pathology, and therefore the book tries to emphazise the importance of separating Wegener's granulomatosis from malignant lymphoma, and to give evidence enough to abandon the misnomer Lethal Midline Granuloma. The increasing concern about various health hazards in industry as well as in our living environment has lead to a situation where patients visit a physician more frequently because of different symptoms allegedly caused by environmental exposure. This is particularly noticeable with nasal and sinonasal problems, and a separate chapter ontoxic environmental exposure has therefore been included in the book. A third emphasis has been given on to the nasal immunobarrier and its function in different conditions, eg. allergy.
