The volume on tumours of the rat was the first in the series on Pathology of Tumours in Laboratory Animals and covers tumours of 28 different organs. In general, the following scheme has been adopted by the various contributors: normal structure of the organ concerned, morphology and classification of tumours, spontaneous tumours, principal methods of tumour induction, and comparative aspects. Each paper is accompanied by a number of illustrations. An effort has been made to adopt, whenever possible, the classification and terminology proposed by WHO for human tumours. The book is intended in particular to be of service to experimental pathologists.
