Endometriosis is one of the most common gynecological disorders affecting women of reproductive age, and is associated with significant morbidity both in terms of symptomatology such as pelvic pain and abnormal bleeding, as well as fertility. However, while being a major disorder faced by women, the etiology and pathophysiology remain unclear.;This text focuses on the proceedings of the first Japan Conference on Endometriosis, and provides insights and results of the latest research into the disease. It presents the important issues of pathogenesis and progression of endometriosis, which encouraged much debate during the conference.
